Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joseph P. Murano Jr., 80, of South Plainfield, NJ, passed away peacefully Thanksgiving morning surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Bronx, NY in 1944 to Tina Marie Cottone and Joseph Murano Sr., Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country during the Vietnam War with honor. After his military service, Joe worked in construction and for 35 years as a delivery driver for Entenmann’s Baking, retiring in 2003.

Joe was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in South Plainfield, where he served as an usher. A passionate advocate for the Second Amendment, he was a gifted gun craftsman and enthusiast with a special talent with black powder guns. He was a proud Fourth Degree Knight with the South Plainfield Knights of Columbus.

Known for his love of motorcycles, Joe enjoyed many rides with his beloved wife, Kathy. He was a black belt and participated in competitive karate, earning the nickname “Karate Joe” from friends and family.

Joe was renowned for being a grill master. No cookout was complete without his signature touch. A self-proclaimed “Dad Joke” enthusiast, Joe’s sense of humor was infectious. His jokes, often corny but always heartwarming, brought smiles and laughter to everyone around him.

A history buff, Joe loved watching the History Channel and often shared fascinating stories and facts with anyone who would listen. Above all, Joe treasured his family, and they were the center of his life. He was a kind and generous man whose presence was felt in every room. His warmth, wisdom, and generosity of spirit touched countless lives, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Tina; his first wife Ruthie and grandson Georgie. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Kathleen Renz-Murano; his four sons: Joseph P. Murano and wife Nikki; Jonathan Murano and wife Stephanie; Ryan Miller and wife Jennifer; Shayne Miller and husband Assis; son-in-law Christopher Miller and daughter MaryBeth. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Murano-DelGrosso and husband Art of California. He leaves behind nine adoring grandchildren and a great-grandson who will all miss him dearly.
