Obituary of Olivia Lopez Salgado
Olivia Lopez Salgado, 77, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born and raised in the Philippines to the late Maria and Isidro Lopez, Olivia graduated from St. Catherine’s School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. In February of 1971, she immigrated to the United States, and began living and working in New York City. Here she worked as an RN at St. Luke’s Hospital. In 1976, she made the move to Windsor, CT, where she was a longtime resident, until settling in Piscataway in 2018.
Olivia was a devout catholic, and a member of the Philippine American Association of Connecticut (PACI), where she served as the Treasurer for many years. Above all else, her family is what meant the most to her, especially her three grandchildren. Olivia will be remembered for her welcoming, approachable, and warm personality.
Predeceased by her husband, Arcadio G. Salgado, M.D., and brother, Amado Lopez, Olivia will be missed by her two sons, Jonathan Salgado, and Jeffrey Salgado and his wife Genevieve. She will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Sofia, Cristian, and Anica; and siblings, Felicitas Torres, Angelita Branam, Josefino Lopez, and Amante Lopez, as well as a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ, on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 4 PM to 6 PM.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, 501 New Market Road, Piscataway, NJ, on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 10:30 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home prior to mass, beginning at 9:30 AM.
Cremation Services will be held privately.
