Francis J. Walsh
Menlo Park NJ - Francis J. Walsh, 79, died on Wednesday July 22, 2009 in the Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Francis had resided in Jersey City and in New York before settling to the NJ Veterans Memorial Home in Menlo Park in 2006.
Frank was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War as a Lieutenant First Class for 10 years receiving the Defense Service Medal for actions during his years of service.
He was a highly educated man having attended the Engineer Officers Candidate School and later continuing his higher education at Fordham University in NYC where he earned his MBA. A learned man, Frank enjoyed reading classical literature and playing the organ. He is also a direct descendent of an Irish Tenor. In addition, Frank designed and built many aspect of his former home in upstate New York.
Working as software engineer, Frank had a very successful career pioneering many products and services for IBM in New York. He later served as a consultant before his retirement in 1985.
His wife, Elsie Koesling , his sister, Eileen Walsh Camacho and his brother, Kenneth Walsh have all predeceased.
Surviving is a brother, Robert Emmet Walsh and 8 nieces and nephews, Gregory, Brian, David, John, Mechita, Mary Ellen, Deirdra & Sheila. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends.
Family & Friends may attend the visitation hours on Friday, July 24, 2009 from 7-9 PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Funeral and committal services will take place graveside on Saturday, July 25, 2009 in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ.
