Michael J. Hoffman South Plainfield, NJ - Michael J.Hoffman, 55, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2010 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Born in Plainfield, Michael was a lifelong resident of South Plainfield. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose greatest pleasure in life was his family and friends. A successful businessman, Michael was the owner and president of Dean Equipment Furniture Co., a school furnishings company with operations in New Jersey and Tennessee. His commitment to his work and family combined with his generous nature and charismatic personality made him a success in business and in life. He was loved by all who knew him; personally and professionally. For many years, Michael was active in the South Plainfield Junior Baseball Club, coaching baseball when his sons were younger as well as serving in executive positions. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing. Michael is predeceased by his parents Robert and Anne, and by his brother Joseph. He leaves behind his loving wife of thirty-six years; Kathleen (Tamburri) Hoffman and by his children; sons Michael Hoffman and Robert Hoffman and his daughter and son-in-law Jeanette and Steven Issenman. He will be missed by his cherished two grandchildren; Jackson and Camryn Issenman, who were a great source of joy to him. He also leaves behind his siblings Joan Bennett and Ella Zanowic. Relatives and friends may attend a visitation on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. A family service reflecting on Michael's life will begin around 12:30 PM. Cremation will be held private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Lakeview School, Cerebral Palsy Association of Middlesex County, 10 Oak Drive, Edison, NJ 08837 would be appreciated.
