George T. Mortland, Jr. Edison, NJ - George Thomas Mortland, Jr., 77, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 29, 2010. Born in Cranford on September 17, 1933 to the late George Thomas Sr. and Dena Mortland, he has been a resident of Edison since 1967. He attended Lehigh University and served his country in the United States Army. While stationed in Korea, he met his Eleanor, who was a missionary there. They were married and later raised their four children in Edison. A service manager for Terminex, he retired in 2006 after. George was a faithful member of Cedarcroft Bible Chapel for over forty-three years. George leaves behind his sweetheart of fifty-one years Eleanor Lunceford Mortland, their children; Dena Haney of Wilmington, NC, George Thomas, III and his wife Jaime of Hamilton, Stephen Ralph and his wife Erika of Upland, IN and Alice Carroll and her husband David of Edison. He will be missed by his special friend Donna Beleski (who was like a daughter to him,) his siblings Lois Dagogliano of Basking Ridge, Margaret Williams and her husband Ed of Watchung, James Edward and his wife Betty of Blanden, PA and by seventeen grandchildren, eighteen nieces and nephews and countless other friends, coworkers and church members who have had the privilege of knowing him. He will truly be remembered by all who knew him as a man who loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, mind and strength; a man who cared for his family in the most sweet, gentle and loving way; a man who lived life with abundance. George Thomas Mortland, Jr. will be greatly missed. Funeral services will begin on Saturday beginning 11:00 AM in the Cedarcroft Bible Chapel, 1715 Kenyon Avenue, South Plainfield. At the family's request, burial will be held private. Visitation will be on Friday, October 1, 2010 in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Cedarcroft Bible Chapel Benevolent Fund, 1715 Kenyon Avenue, South Plainfield 07080.
