Anthony F. Ciampa South Plainfield - Anthony F.Ciampa, 89, entered eternal life on Tuesday, January 4, 2010 JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born and raised in Plainfield, Mr. Ciampa has resided in South Plainfield since 1967. An Army Veteran of WWII, he was drafted in 1942 ans served in L Company, 111th infantry. He was a dedicated member of the VFW Storr - Richie Post 506 in North Plainfield. In October of 2000, Anthony was awarded a plaque for 50 years of service for his dedication and recognition as past commander of Post 506. In 1985 he retired from Johnson and Johnson in New Brunswick where he worked in the shipping department for 41 years and is also a longtime member of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield. Anthony loved gardening especially caring for his own lawn. In addition, Mr. Ciampa also enjoyed bowling and photography as well as square dancing. He is pre-deceased by his brother Peter Ciampa and by 5 sisters; Ann Puri, Lucy Cilano, Grace Ponzio, Geraldine Miele and Marion Urciole. Surviving are his loving wife Ann (Natale) of South Plainfield, 2 daughters; Brenda Cooper of Aberdeen and Barbara Fauver and her husband Gary of Winchester, Virginia, 2 sisters; Angie Ferrara of Scotch Plains and Mary Rubinetti and her husband Larry of North Plainfield, his brother Andrew Ciampa of Moorestown and by his 4 grandchildren; Melanie Cortese, Jennifer Pope, Tracey Ashby, and Sean Pope. Also surviving are 3 great-grandchildren; Courtney and David Pope and Katie Cortese. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 from 4-8 PM in the funeral home
