Michael W. Kelly
Piscataway - Michael W. Kelly, 67, died suddenly on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born and raised in Bayonne, Mr. Kelly had resided in South Plainfield from 1972 until he settled to Piscataway in 1994.
A proud Marine, Mr. Kelly served in the United Stated Marine Corps as a MP from 1960 to 1964 before being honorably discharged. Mr. Kelly also served during the Bay of Pigs Invasion.
Mr. Kelly began a 30 year career on the docks of Bayonne. Working initially for Military Ocean Port and Global Terminals and then International Terminals Operations before retiring as supervisor for Maher Terminals in Port Elizabeth. He continued working at St. Peters University Hospital in their engineering department for six years retiring last year.
He is a life member of the Bayonne Marine Corps League and is a 3rd degree member of the Bayonne Knights of Columbus Council # 371.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Diane M. (Burns) Kelly, his two dear children, Janine L. Calvey & her husband, John of South Plainfield; Timothy A. Kelly and his wife Karen of South Plainfield; his three siblings, Mary Ann Adamkonski & her husband, Walter of Bayonne, John Kelly & his wife Roseann of Ringwood and Gerald Kelly & his wife Dolores of Bayonne.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Courtney, Alyssa, Patrick & Lauren.
Funeral services will begin on Thursday August 6, 2009 at 9:45 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:30 AM funeral mass in St. Luke's RC Church, 300 Clinton Avenue, North Plainfield, NJ 07060.
Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle's Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
Family & Friend may attend the visitation hours Wednesday, August 5, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are requested to St. Peter's Foundation for Cancer Research, 254 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
