Sophie Roniak Padfield Napolitano Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Friend Toms River - Sophie (Roniak) Padfield Napolitano, born March 19, 1929, began her eternal life with Christ on August 21, 2008. Sophie fought complications following a gall bladder operation in late March. Born in Elizabeth where she resided until moving to Toms River in 1995, she attended Battin High School until 11th grade when she left school to work in Singer's Sewing Plant to help the family and prevent her mother from scrubbing floors. She sewed linings into coats. She met Paul Henry Padfield at a dance and they were married July 4, 1947 until 1960, when Paul was killed in a fatal car accident. Sophie met John "Nappy" Napolitano on a bowling league in 1963 and after a 30 year courting, the couple eloped on October 15, 1996. Sophie was the last surviving sibling of the Maroyka, Ronyak and Ulanowski Family. She is survived by her husband, John, her daughters, Linda Padfield & Henry Bogotay of Marrietta, GA and Diane & Wayne Kaczowski of South Plainfield, NJ. Son, Paul Kelly & Hang Padfield of Orlando, FL, three Grandchildren, Takara Kelly Kaczowski, Darren Kenneth Padfield Kaczowski, and Alexander Paul Padfield, along with many nieces, nephews, and greats. Her spirit was never broken. Her courage and perseverance, despite her suffering and disappointments were Christlike qualities, and the family will admire her for the rest of their lives. Sophie loved flowers, and gave to many charities who will miss her generosity. Her wake services will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, South Plainfield, on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Newark
