Kenneth E. LaFreniere South Plainfield, NJ - Kenneth E. LaFreniere, 68, died on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick after a short illness. Born in St. Albans, NY, he grew up in Huntington, Long Island before settling to South Plainfield forty years ago. Kenneth was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force after serving from 1959-1963. He had been employed by AT&T in Parsippany where he worked as Project Manager for many years before retiring fifteen years ago. Being active locally, Ken had served as President of the South Plainfield High School PTA, was a founding member of Project Graduation, served on the South Plainfield Board of Education for nine years and has been currently serving as Treasurer for the S.P. Education Foundation. He had also been involved with the South Plainfield Pop Warner football program. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and he especially enjoyed spending time with his nine grandchildren which were his pride and joy. Kenneth is predeceased by his parents, Robert & Julia and his brother, Robert. He leaves behind his wife; Christine, his three daughters and their husbands, Nadine & Joe Sacco of South Plainfield, Nicole and Steve Martin of Furlong, PA and Lauren and Ken Scherp of Warsaw, IN. His sister, Vicki Mulhearn and her husband Jim, brother, Stephen and his wife Debbie, sister in law, Pat LaFreniere and brother and sister in law, Joyce & Joseph Bonsignore Also surviving are nine special grandchildren; Taylor, Ashley, Brooke, Rachel, Joseph, Jordan, Jenna, Colin and Aaron.Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2009 beginning 9:15 AM in McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2009 from 7-9 PM and on Sunday, February 1, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the South Plainfield Education Foundation, P.O. Box 733, South Plainfield, NJ 07080
