John DeVico South Plainfield - John DeVico, 93, died on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at his daughter's home in Middlesex. Born in Plainfield, John has resided in South Plainfield for past 55 years. A Veteran of WWII, John served with the Army. He is a life member of the South Plainfield VFW Post 6763 as well as the South Plainfield American Legion Chaumont Post 243. In 1980, Mr. DeVico retired from the Middlesex County Detention Center in North Brunswick as a Senior Supervisor. An avid golfer, John was a member of the Plainfield Country Club's West -9 Golf Course and during his lifetime play he achieved 2 holes in one. He is pre deceased by his wife Bessie who died in 1985. Surviving are his 3 daughters; Heather Staats and her husband William of South Plainfield Madeline Penyak and her husband Joseph also of South Plainfield and Jeanette Bivona of Middlesex, her 3 sons; John DeVico and his wife Linda of Colorado, Frank DeVico and his wife Patricia of Middlesex and Alexander DeVico of Rochester, NY, his sister Carol Hartpence of California and his 15 grandchildren. Also surviving are his 17 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 from 4-8 PM with a prayer service to begin at 7:30 PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield. Cremation service will be held privately. Committal Services will take place on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ
