South Plainfield - Alfred Behr was born on April 25, 1935 and passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at home. Born and raised in Long Island City, NY , Al settled to South Plainfield in 1960. Al was a devoted husband and father and married the love of his life, the late Dolores, in 1956. He was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life. One of his favorite places was right in his own backyard spending time with family and friends as well as taking trips with his wife to Atlantic City. Al was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed playing sports in his younger years.Later in life he enjoyed gong to the South Plainfield Senior Center. In addition to his late wife Dolores, Al is also predeceased by two sisters. Surviving are his four children; Maureen Cerulli (Anthony) of Churchville, PA., Alfred Jr. (Joanne) of South Plainfield, Thomas (Cindy) of Asbury and Michael (Lisa) of Gillette. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren who looked up to their "Pops" and best friend; Jacqueline, Christie, Freddy, Jake, Aleece, Mikey, Kelly, Anthony and Gabriel. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 3-7pm in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 10:30am in the Chapel at Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield In Lieu of Flowers donations can be made to the South Plainfield Senior Center, 90 Maple Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
