James August Kmosko passed away on March 3, 2015 at the age of 94 at Heritage House in Keller, Texas. James was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 14, 1920. He was the first child of August & Daisy Rawlinson Kmosko. He was employed by Western Electric Company as a quality control engineer involved in product testing of radar and communications equipment for the US Armed Forces. Later, he was employed by Stavid Engineering developing radar systems for the US Navy. He worked for Lockheed Electronics for 40 years as an engineering supervisor where he retired in 1986. His hobby was amateur radio. He was licensed under the call letters "W2NLY" in 1939. His interest in ham radio began at the age of 14 when he operated his own station for the Boy Scouts. He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in South Plainfield, NJ, Lockheed Star Dusters, the AARL, as well as a life member of IEEE. He had numerous technical articles relating to antennas and antenna systems published in various publications. James is predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Gertrude, who passed away in April of 2011, his sisters, Dorothy Sooy, Ruth Kraus & Florence Ross as well as his brother William Kmosko. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth and his wife Pamela of Keller, Texas, Gary and his wife Carolyn of Hillsborough. He is also survived by three grandsons, Jeffrey & wife Harmony, Alexander and Eric. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 10 ,2015 at 11am in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the funeral home.
