Obituary of Gilda Amate

Quakertown, PA- Gilda Amate, 88, died on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at home. Born and raised in Newark, Mrs. Amate lived in Clark before moving to South Plainfield in 1958 and in 2011 she relocated to Quakertown, PA. Mrs. Amate worked at JFK Medical Center in Edison, retiring in 1993 and was also a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield. Referred to as "The angel of the Family", Mrs. Amate enjoyed helping and caring for others. She is predeceased by seven siblings. Surviving are her two sons; Allen Amate and his wife Estelle of Quakertown, PA and John Amate of Northampton, PA., her four grandchildren; Amanda Foreman, Daniel, Allen F. and Jeffrey Amate and her four great grandchildren; Kenda Foreman, Kenneth Foreman, Jr. and Rosalia and Benjamin Amate. Also surviving is a brother Alfred Detulio and his wife Lorraine of Lakehurst and a brother in law James Tingoli of Roselle Park Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 9:15am in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10am funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, from 5-9 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations have been requested to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org
