South Plainfield - Joan (Garrity) Chabra, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Abingdon Care and Rehabilitation Center in Greenbrook.
Born in to the late Mitchell and Helen Garrity in Flint, Michigan, Joan resided in Philadelphia and Newark before settling to South Plainfield.
For thirty years, Joan worked for the A&P Food Store in South Plainfield. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler.
Predeceased by her husband who died in 2001, William and three brothers, John, William, and Joseph Garrity, surviving are her two daughters, Wendy Heim and her fiancé, Michael Yarussi of South Plainfield and Donna Campanelli of Colorado; a sister; Mary Weaver of Florida and brother, Robert Garrity of Kearny.
She will also be missed by two grandchildren; Meghan and Thomas Heim III.
Funeral Services will be held in Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 10AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Interment will follow in Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 7-9PM in the funeral home
