Anthony Soltys South Plainfield - Anthony Soltys, 93, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park in Edison. Born and raised in Newark, Mr. Soltys resided in the city for majority of his life. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on January 3, 1942 and was honorably discharged on March 26, 1945. Upon his discharge, Mr. Soltys worked as a truck driver for the former Ballantine Brewery in Newark followed by the Pabst Brewing Company working in the same capacity until his retirement Tony served as Past Commander of the VFW Labormen's Memorial Post #9393 in Irvington as was also a member of the Teamsters Local 843 in Springfield. He is predeceased by his wife the late Katie Soltys, his daughter the late Dolores D. Wachauf, two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are his grandchildren; Cathy Wachauf of East Brunswick and Raymond Wachauf and his wife Laura of South Plainfield, his two great grandchildren; Chrissy Slatky and Caitlin Wachauf, a sister Mary Clarke and her husband Sheldon of Edison and by a brother Paul Soltys and his wife Evelyn of Seaside Heights. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 3-7 PM in the funeral home.
