South Plainfield - Amelia E. (Pesaniello) Strupp, 88, died on Monday, June 24, 2013 at her home in South Plainfield. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, Amelia settled to South Plainfield in 1942. She worked as a welder for Harris Structural Steel, spending her weekends roller skating in Plainfield, NJ where her future husband was a guard. On September 21, 1947, Amelia married Harold "Sonny" Strupp. She was a former member of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield. Mrs. Strupp enjoyed crocheting, bingo, puzzles and was a huge supporter of her husband's very successful dirt modified racing. She hand lettered his cars and also attended many races where her son John and grandson Bill Jr. were in competition. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her two brothers; Alfonso and Joseph Pesaniello. Surviving is her beloved husband of 65 years Harold, her two children; Kathy Darcy and her husband Bill of Port Murray, NJ and her son John and his wife Patricia of Asbury and her four grandchildren; Bill Darcy Jr and his wife Kristy, Leigh Bodenschatz and her husband Joe and Jacob and Thomas Strupp. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren; Joseph Bodenschatz Jr, Billy Darcy III, Jake Darcy, and Gus Bodenschatz. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 11am in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Interment will follow at North Branch Reformed Church Cemetery, North Branch. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 4-8pm in the funeral home.
