South Plainfield - Thomas P. Richetti, Sr., 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 6, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville.
Born and raised in Roselle Park, Thomas has resided in South Plainfield since 1957 with his wife, Rose. They have shared a second home in Estero, Florida for many years.
An honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy in 1946, he is a graduate of Montclair State University, where he received his teaching degree. Thomas furthered his education, receiving a Master's degree, from Kean University and continued PhD studies at Seton Hall University.
Thomas was a proud educator with the Roselle Park BOE teaching in the Robert Gordon Elementary School. He enjoyed working in the yard and gardening. Thomas was also an avid fan of the N.Y. Yankees and N.Y. Giants.
Predeceased by his son who died in August of 2007, Peter J. and two sisters, Theresa Hauser and Mildred Jones, surviving are his wife of 60 years, Rose T. (Rabbone); two children, Robyn Miller and husband Jeffrey of Bridgewater and Thomas P. Jr. of Florida and a brother, Francis of Bricktown. He will also be missed by his two grandchildren, Justin C. And Nicolas T. Miller.
Funeral services will begin on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 9:15AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church at 10AM.
Interment will follow in Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth.
Family and friends may attend visitation on Thursday from 2-4PM & 7-9PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Plainfield Rescue Squad, 2520 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080.
