Margaret M. "Peggy" Benedict Deerfield Beach, Fl - Margaret M. "Peggy" Benedict, 91, died on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the University of Miami Medical Center in Miami. Born and raised in North Plainfield, Peggy graduated from North Plainfield High School and resided in South Plainfield for 54 years before relocating to Florida in 2004. For many years Mrs. Benedict worked alongside her late husband Charles as a bookkeeper for the former Colonial Meat Market in Plainfield. She then worked at the former Lazaar's Stationary also located in Plainfield until her retirement. She was a former communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield and was an avid cat lover. In addition to her late husband, Peggy is predeceased by her brother Edward Acker. Surviving are her three daughters; Judith A. Benedict and her husband Mark Tappen of Winterhaven, NY, Patricia M. Hammock and her husband Craig of Scotch Plains and Kathleen M. Smith and her husband Hearshel of Deerfield Beach, FL and her son Robert C. Benedict of Key West, Fl. Also surviving is her grandchild; Charles Brooks Smith. Visitation and Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 from 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
