Lydia "Nana" DeAndrea Metuchen -Lydia (Caruso) "Nana" DeAndrea, 88, died on Monday, October 31, 2011 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Somerville, Mrs. DeAndrea lived in Plainfield and South Plainfield prior to settling to Metuchen in 1948. Lydia was referred to as Nana not only by her family, but by friends as well. She had a heart as big as the world, was a fabulous cook and her grandchildren were the joys of her life. Nana was a longtime communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Metuchen and she will be sadly missed by her entire family. Her beloved husband of 66 years Vincent P. Sr. died in 2008. In addition to her husband, Mrs. DeAndrea is predeceased by a son Vincent P. Jr. and by her brother Giatano Caruso. Surviving are her two children, Richard DeAndrea (Cindy Pukash) of South Plainfield and Denise Sneddon & her husband Bob of Metuchen, her brother inlaw who she considered as a child of her own; Joseph B. DeAndrea Sr. and his wife Rose of Pennsylvania, two sisters; Elsie Watson and Enes Accardi and her sister in law Louise Petrella all of Florida. Also surviving are the joys of her life, her 11 grandchildren; Christina Large & her husband, Dale, Dawn Santos & her husband Peter, Maria DeAndrea, Alicia Sneddon Killean and her husband Tommy, Robyn Stuart & her husband, Billy, Dori Sneddon, Ricky DeAndrea, Vincent DeAndrea, III, Bobby Sneddon and his fiance Tiffany Festa, Michael Sneddon & Daniel DeAndrea and her 10 great grandchildren, Danielle, Olivia, Erik, Noah, Paige, Emily, Cooper, Alli, Kate and Lucy. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 8:45 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:15 AM funeral mass in St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, Metuchen, NJ. Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer Mausoleum, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
